Update #1 - April 11, 2025

This is the latest email I sent out to people whose email addresses we have.

This will be a bit of a long email as many people will be hearing from us for the first time. To bring those people up to speeed, a bit of history:

Last year, we organized a reunion focused on the people that would have finished high school in 1969, 1970 or 1971. For many reasons, we decided to do another reunion in 2025 and expand the base of people to invite.

The reunion is set for June 21st, 2025 in Leask at the Community Hall.

Back to the present:

Karen and Lorraine are the ones doing the heavy lifting of contacting people, getting contact info and fielding calls from people. They have expressed serious concern, based on the number of people contacting them regarding the reunion, that we may have more people interested than we thought possible.

You see, we have a hall occupancy limit of 300 people and the concern is that we wouldn't be able to accommodate everyone that wants to come.

How to deal with this situation?

Here is what we have come up with:

 - we will limit the years included to 1962 to 1972 - This includes people that may have moved away or left school...as long as your peers would have graduated in those years, you are included.

 - If you are outside those years and want to attend, please contact us at your earliest opportunity and we will add you to a list.

If we are under the 300 limit as of the May long weekend (Monday May 19, 2025) we will contact you and arrange for you to attend.

We would appreciate it if you could advise us as soon as possible if you plan to attend and if you will be coming alone or there will be two attending.

This will help us plan so that as many people that want to come will have adequate time to plan to attend.

Due to increased hall costs and meal costs, we have decided that the cost for the day will be $50.00.

You can pay this by e-transfer to Murray Stevens at his email: ugoigotoo@gmail.com

If you wish to pay by cash or cheque you can give Karen or Lorraine or Murray a cheque personally or mail your cheque to Murray at 331 Adaskin Cove, Saskatoon SK S7N 4P3.

We are planning on having the hall ready by 10 am. We thought of doing a breakfast but that would bring up the cost and complications tracking who wants breakfast etc. So, we are thinking of doing a potluck of muffins and coffee for Brunch/Lunch. But, if enough people would like a breakfast we can try and organize that...please let us know!!!

Arrangements have been made to kave the Museum open and for tours of the school.

If you wish to call with questions or information on classmates:

Karen (Barber) Campbell - 306-466-9990

Lorraine (Bittner) Benson - 306-468-7616

Murray Stevens - 306-361-4867

We are planning on applying for a BYOB liquor permit again this year. This allows attendees to bring their own "adult refreshments" into the hall. The law requires that any such refreshments must have been purchased in Saskatchewan so please keep your receipts.

The Village will provide camping space behind the arena for people that wish to bring RVs, campers.. They will cut the grass and leave a picnic table. There is a spot by the school for dumping grey water but it has a very heavy lid.

For people staying overnight that may wish to sttend church on Sunday, here are the service times:

Catholic Church  - 9:00 a.m.

Anglican Church - 9:00 a.m.

Gospel Tabernacle  - 11:00 a.m.

We set up a website last year: http://leaskreunion.blogspot.com It still contains information regarding camping and motel accommodations. It will be updated with this year's info and updates.

You can pass on contact information or ask questions by emailing leaskreunion@gmail.com which all three of us will receive.

Best regards,

Murray Stevens for Karen and Lorraine..the reunion organizing committee.Arrangements have been made to kave the Museum open and for tours of the school.
